About Us

This business has been in operation since 1947. Water well drilling has been passed down through our family beginning in the early 1920's.

The first Mills family drill was powered by steam and moved with mules, purchased by Cager Dottie(C.D.) Mills Sr. and his brother-in-law. The swich to a gasoline powered drill was made in the early 1940's.

In 1947, Samuel Mills and C.D. Mills Jr. bought a drill and began their own business. The two worked together until C.D. became the Bledsoe County Clerk. Thereafter Samuel hired various workers until 1959 when his oldest son Milton Mills Sr. came to work with him. In 1968, the Mills' purchesed a rotory drill which worked much like the ones used today. Milton Mills Sr. passed away 1989 and his son Milton Mills Jr. (Mutt) took his place. Samuel and Mutt ran the business together for many years until Samuel passed the business down to Mutt and retired. Mutt runs the business today working his nephew in law Jamie Harris.
